Janice: How's my Bing-a-ling?
Chandler: Ah, I don't know. You-you tell me. Anything you uh, you wanna tell me? Because if you uh, you
should, if you, you would tell me.
Janice: Why are your eyes so wide?
Chandler: You tell me. Maybe it's because I was just fooling around with my ex. Oh, no-no-no, no-no-no.
That was you!
Janice: Oh, my God!
Chandler: All right!
Janice: How did you know?
Chandler: Joey told me. He saw you two kissing!
Janice: In the park?
Chandler: No, in his office! How many kisses were there?
Janice: Just those two!
Chandler: Why? Why? Why? Why was there kissing? There should be no kissing!
Janice: Oh, I'm sorry, honey. I'm so, so…ha! I'm so, so sorry. I just…ha! But…Oh, what happened was…
I-I-I can't breathe. Can you get me a bag or something?
[Chandler gets her a paper bag from the kitchen.]
Chandler: Here, here, here.
[Janice starts to breath into it and sucks in the receipt.]
Janice: It's the receipt.
Chandler: I'll take it. All right, look, I've got to know. Are you finished with me? [Janice shakes her head.]
Are you finished with him? [Janice shakes her head.] Do you still love him? [Janice nods her head.] Do
you still love me? [Janice nods her head.] All right, look, [grabs the bag] I'm gonna need an actual answer
here, okay? So which is it? Him or me?
[The phone starts to ring.]
Janice: I don't know.
[Phoebe rushes in.]
Phoebe: Okay, if you're alive, you answer your phone!
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's. Monica, Rachel, Phoebe and Joey are there.]
Monica: Okay, Ben, I won't tell your Daddy that you had ice cream before dinner, if you won't tell him about
our little bonking incident.
bonk [bɒŋk]: to hit 打;撞
Rachel: Monica, number one, I don't think Ben understands the concept of bribery. And number two, I…
[Joey laughs.] What?
bribery ['braibəri]: the giving or taking of bribes 受贿,行贿
Joey: You said, 'number two'.
number two (<比>305.Chandler: What, like a number?)
Rachel: I also said, 'number one'.
Joey: I know. [giggles harder]
[Ross enters.]
Ross: Hey, everyone.
Rachel: Hi!
Ross: How's my little boy?
Monica: He's perfect. Aren't you, Ben?
Rachel: He's never been better.
[Ross notices the outfit Ben is wearing.]
Ross: What did you do, take him whaling?
whaling ['welɪŋ]: the activity of hunting and killing whales 捕鲸
Ben: Monica.
Ross: Oh, my God. He just said your name. That's great. Good job, Ben.
Ben: Monica bang!
Monica: Oh, that's right. That's what I'd sound like if I exploded.
Phoebe: Woo-hoo! The curse is broken. I called everybody I know and everyone is alive.
curse [kə:s]: a word or phrase that has a magic power to make something bad happen 咒语;诅咒 (<派>118.Phoebe:
But I think you should know that this money is cursed.)
Joey: Huh.
Phoebe: What?
Joey: Ugly Naked Guy looks awfully still.
still: not moving 静止的,不动的
[Phoebe runs to the window and gasps. Cut to later. They all stand by the window.]
Phoebe: Oh, my God. I killed him. I killed another one. And this curse is getting stronger too. Bring down
something that big!
bring down something: to make an animal or a bird fall down or fall out of the sky by killing or wounding it 打伤;打死
(<异>104.Rachel: I didn't mean to bring you down.)
Rachel: Well, maybe he's just taking a nap.
Joey: I'm telling you, he hasn't moved since this morning.
Monica: Okay, we should call somebody.
Ross: And tell them what? That the naked guy we stare at all the time isn't moving?
Rachel: Well, we've got to find out if he's alive.
Monica: How are we gonna do that? There's no way.
Joey: Well, there's one way. His window is open. I say, we poke him.
[Scene: Chandler and Joey's. Chandler is throwing darts as Joey enters.]
Joey: Hey! You know how we Uh, save all those chopsticks for no reason when we get Chinese food?
chopstick ['tʃɑpstɪk]: (usually plural) either of a pair of thin sticks that are used for eating with, especially in some
Asian countries (通常复数)筷子
Chandler: Yeah.
Joey: Well, now we got a reason.
Chandler: What?
Joey: Well, we're fashioning a very long poking device.
fashion: to make or shape something, especially with your hands 制作;塑造 (<异>306.Eric: Oh, mostly fashion. So
there may be models here from time to time.)
Chandler: All right.
Joey: Hey, uh, what's the matter?
Chandler: I talked to Janice.
Joey: Oh, my God. Is she going back to him?
Chandler: She doesn't know. Says she loves us both. You know, I woke up this morning. I was in love.
You know, I was happy. You know, it serves me right for buying that 12 pack of condoms. And now I
can't even return them because she choked on the receipt!
it serves someone right for doing something: used to say that something that has happened to someone is their own
fault and they deserve it 某人活该受惩罚
Joey: What are you uh, what are you gonna do?
Chandler: I don't know, you know. What-what would you do?
Joey: Uh, it doesn't matter what I'd do.
Chandler: Come on. Come on. Tell me.
Joey: All right. You're…probably not gonna wanna hear this. But uh, if it was me, and this is just me, I
would uh, I would bow out.
bow out : to stop taking part in an activity, especially one in which you have been successful in the past 退出
Chandler: What? [turns around holding a dart. Joey quickly ducks and hides behind the chair.] What are
you, what are you talking about?
Joey: They have a kid together, you know. They're like, they're like a family. And if, I don't know, if there's
a chance they can make that work, I know I wouldn't wanna be the guy who stood in the way of that. You
okay? You uh, you wanna come poke a nude guy?
stand in the way of: 妨碍,阻碍 (<近>107.Ross: If you get in the way of us becoming a thing, then I would be very
sad.)
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's. Ross enters from Rachel's bedroom.]
Ross: Well, he's finally asleep. About that uh, bump on his head…
Rachel: Are you, are you uh, you sure it's a new bump? I mean, no offense, but I've always thought of Ben
as a fairly bumpy-head child.
Ross: It's okay if he bumps his head. Kids bump their heads all the time, you know. It was your first time
babysitting. I figured you did the best you could.
Rachel: I did!
Ross: I know. I'm saying you have to watch them all the time.
Rachel: I did! I watched! I watched! I watched Monica bang his head against that thing!
Ross: Monica did it?
[Monica runs into the kitchen from the balcony.]
Ross: Monica?
Monica: Yeah.
Ross: Um, did you notice anything weird about-about Ben today?
Monica: No. Why?
Ross: Well, I was just playing with him. And, you know, we were doing the alphabet song, which he used to
be really good at. But suddenly, he's leaving out 'E' and 'F'. It's like they just uh, I don't know, fell out of his
head.
alphabet song: 字母歌
Monica: Really?
Ross: Oh, and also, he's-he's walking kind of funny. I mean, it's like his-his left leg is moving a lot faster than
his right leg. Yeah, he's in there just sort of, you know…[walks around in a circle]
Monica: Oh, my God. I wrecked your baby! [runs into the bedroom]
wreck [rɛk]: 摧残…的身体或精神
Rachel: I hope it's still funny when you're in hell.
Monica: [comes out of the bedroom] You jerk! You know how much I love that kid! [starts to chase Ross
around]
Ross: Monica bang! Monica bang! Monica bang! [runs into one of the posts] Ow!
Rachel: I'll get the hat.
[Scene: Central Perk. Chandler and Janice are there.]
Chandler: Janice, I have something I need to tell you. And I want you to let me get through it because it's,
it's, it's not gonna be easy.
Janice: Okay.
Chandler: I think you should go back with Gary. I don't wanna be the guy that breaks up a family. You know,
when my parents split up, it was because of that guy. Whenever I would see him, I would always think, you
know, 'You're the reason. You are why they're not together.'. And I hated-hated that guy. And it didn't matter
how nice he was or, you know, how happy he made my Dad.
Gary ['ɡæri]: 加里(男子名)
Janice: Wow!
Chandler: Yeah, well, it's the right thing to do.
Janice: Oh! You're right. Oh, God. But before I can say goodbye, there's something I really need you to
know, Chandler. The way I feel about you, it's like I finally understand what Lionel Richie's been singing
about, you know. I mean, what we have, it's like movie love. You're my soulmate. And I can't believe
we're not gonna be spending the rest of our lives together.
soulmate ['səʊˌlmeɪt]: a person that you have a special friendship with because you understand each other's feelings
and interests 灵魂伴侣;知音
we're not gonna be spending the rest of our lives together (<比>102.Ross: We agreed we'd spend the rest of our
lives together.)
Chandler: Then don't leave me.
Janice: What?
Chandler: Forget what I said. I was babbling. Pick me!
babble ['bæbl]: 说蠢话,胡说
Janice: No, you were right. You were right. I mean, I-I've got to give my marriage another chance.
Chandler: No, you don't. No-no-no. I say, you have to give your divorce another chance.
Janice: Sweetie, you should not have to settle for just half my heart.
Chandler: I'll settle for half your heart! I'll settle for a quarter of your heart! I'll settle for a little…a tiny…a-a
ventricle.
ventricle ['ventrikl]: (anatomy) a part of the heart that pumps blood to the arteries (解剖学)心室
Janice: I'm sorry. [hugs him]
Chandler: Oh, don't go.
Janice: No, I-I gotta go.
[Janice starts to walk away, but Chandler doesn't let her go.]
Chandler: No! No! No! No!
Janice: Honey, honey, people are looking.
Chandler: I don't care. [to the people who are watching] I don't care!
Janice: Yeah, um, okay, I'm, I'm leaving now.
[Janice tries to get her leg out of Chandler's grasp. Chandler takes off her shoe.]
Chandler: You can't leave! I have your shoe!
Janice: Goodbye, Chandler Bing. [walks out with one shoe]
Gunther: Rachel has those in burgundy.
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's. Everyone except Chandler are there. They are holding a giant poking device.]
Joey: All right, now remember, something this big and long is gonna be very difficult to maneuver.
Fortunately, I have a lot of experience in that area.
maneuver: to move or turn skillfully or carefully (灵巧地)移动 (<异>105.Ross: There's one little maneuver and—bam!
—A bra right out of the sleeve.)
Rachel: What are you, 12 today?
Ross: Can we please focus here? A naked man's life hangs in the balance!
hang in the balance: 安危未定;悬而未决
Phoebe: I'm telling you, he's dead. What we are about to have here is a dead, fat guy on a stick.
Joey: All right, ladies and gentlemen, let's poke. Steady. Steady. Okay, a little higher. Careful of the angle.
Okay, okay, we're approaching the window. Thread the needle. Thread the needle.
[They poke him, and he starts to stir.]
stir: to move slightly, for example because you are uncomfortable or beginning to wake up 微动 (<异>221.They both
stir their coffee and proceed to stare into the mugs.)
Phoebe: He's alive! He's alive!
Monica: And yet we're still poking him.
Joey: Okay, retract the device. Retract the device.
retract [ri'trækt]: to pull something back into the main part of something 使缩回;使收起
Ross: He does not look happy.
Rachel: Hey-hey, now he's showing us his poking device.
Joey: Hey, that's never gonna make it all the way over here, buddy!
Closing Credits
[Scene: Chandler and Joey's. Chandler is listening to a Lionel Richie album.]
Chandler: [singing] I'll hold you close in my arms. [Phoebe enters.] I can't resist your charms. And love…
Phoebe: [joins him] Love…
Chandler and Phoebe: [singing] I'll be a fool for you. I'm sure. You know I don't mind.
Chandler: [high pitched] Oh, you know I don't mind.
Chandler and Phoebe: [singing] Yes! You mean the world to me. Oh…
Chandler: [singing] I know...
Phoebe: [singing] I know...
Chandler: [singing] I've found...
Phoebe: [singing] I've found…
Chandler and Phoebe: [singing]…in you, my endless love. [They don't match tones, so they try again.]
My endless love.
