Ross: Oh, oh, and hey-hey-hey, those little spelling tips will come in handy when you are at home on
Saturday nights playing Scrabble with Monica!
117.Ross: Yeah. The doctor got the 'K' out. He also found a 'M' and an 'O'.
Chandler: We think he was trying to spell out 'monkey'.
拼字游戏(Scrabble)于1938年面世，目前由美国游戏与玩具生产巨头孩之宝公司(Hasbro Games)出品。
其基本规则是在一块15×15方格的游戏板(board)上，2至4名玩家轮流拼出(spell out)单词。
117.Monica: What's going on?
Chandler: Marcel swallowed a Scrabble tile.
第一轮每个玩家从布袋中的100张字母牌(Scrabble tile)中各拿出7张，第一个玩家拼出第一个单词。接下
来的玩家拼出的单词其中一个字母必须和前一个玩家的重叠，无论横、竖需在一条平行线上。
117.Chandler: Okay, whose turn is it?
Ross: Yours. I just got 43 points for 'kidney'.
Chandler: No, no. You got zero points for 'idney'.
Ross: I had a 'K'. Where's-where's my 'K'?
拼出不同难度的单词将得到不同的分数(point)，分值根据字母在标准书写英语中出现的频率订定，如经常
出现的E和O只值1分，而不常用的Q和Z则值10分。玩家必须充分利用字母牌的组合和游戏板上的彩色加
分格(如粉色可获双倍积分)，来争取更高的分数。
117.Chandler: 'Garge'?
Ross: Nautical term.
Chandler: Cheating man.
Ross: [takes the tile off the board] Okay.
117.Ross: What is that?
Monica: 'Tushy'!
117.Ross: Uh, Pheebs, I don't think 'scrunchy' is a word.
Phoebe: Why not? If 'crunchy' is a word, why isn't 'scrunchy'?
Chandler: Well, okay, then I'm using that same argument for 'fligament'.
游戏开始前通常会指定一本参考词典，所有在该词典中出现的单词及其变形均被接受。游戏参加者可对
前一位玩家拼出的单词提出质疑，若查证这个单词不存在，该玩家要收回字母牌，该轮得零分。
124.Chandler: [points out a gift] Okay, this one right here is from me.
Rachel: [picks it up] Okay. Ah, it's light. [shakes it] It rattles. It's…[opens it] Travel Scrabble!
124.Rachel: Oh, my God. He remembered.
Phoebe: Remembered what?
Rachel: It was like months ago. We were walking by this antique store and I saw this pin in the window.
And I told him that was just like one my grandmother had when I was a little girl. Oh! I can't believe he
remembered!
Chandler: Well, sure. But can you play it on a plane? [pats his Travel Scrabble]
旅行装拼字游戏(Travel Scrabble)比普通版更加轻巧，方便携带。游戏板上有凹槽，可防止字母牌在运动
中滑落。
