1. 耸肩:shrug/to shrug your shoulders

103.[Chandler tries to shrug nonchalantly, but eventually he has to exhale a mouthful of smoke.]

shrug [ʃrʌg]: If you shrug, you raise your shoulders to show that you are not interested in something or that you
do not know or care about something

103.Monica: [shouts to Chandler] Chandler, do you promise to be good?

[Chandler makes a 'cross my heart' sign.]

cross my heart (and hope to die): used to emphasize that you are telling the truth or will do what you promise

103.Chandler: Yep. We sure showed those Hasidic jewelers a thing or two about softball.

Ross: Nice! [gives Chandler a high five]

high five: an action to celebrate victory or to express happiness in which two people raise one arm each and
hit their open hands together

4. 竖起大拇指搭便车:thumb a lift/ thumb a ride

103.Ross: A thumb?!

[Phoebe nods.]

All: Eww!

Phoebe: I know. I know. I opened it up and there it was, just floating in there, like this tiny little
hitchhiker!

601.Joey: [to himself] Man, this is a long drive! Are my eyes open? No! [He opens his eyes and
sees a
hitchhiker.]

107. Jill Goodacre: Are you alright? [Chandler tries to save face and makes the 'OK' sign with his
hands, while obviously unable to breathe.
] Oh my God, you're choking!

114.Janice: You seek me out. Something deep in your soul calls out to me like a foghorn. Janice!
Janice
! And then you push me away, you pull me back. Janice! You want me. You need me. You
can't live without me. And you know it. You just don't know you know it.

passionately
.] See ya.

really know what that means.

Joey: Oh, my. Would you look at that? [holds up his crossed fingers]

crossing your fingers: Some people, mostly children, use the gesture to excuse their telling of a white lie.
By extension, a similar belief is that crossing one's fingers invalidates a promise being made.

head' motion
